In implant consultations, patients ask surprisingly similar questions. Here are the three I hear most often.
1. Does it hurt?
The word "surgery" worries many people. During the procedure you are under local anesthesia, so significant pain is uncommon. Discomfort after the anesthesia wears off varies from person to person, but it is usually manageable with prescribed medication.
If bone grafting is also needed, recovery may take a little longer — we explain this before treatment.
2. How long does it take?
An implant is not finished the day it is placed. The artificial root needs time to fuse with the bone (osseointegration), and that period depends on your bone condition. The lower jaw is generally faster than the upper jaw.
Rather than rushing the timeline, confirming that each stage is progressing properly is ultimately the faster path.
3. Can I get an implant too?
More important than age are the condition of your jawbone and your general health. Diabetes or osteoporosis medication can change the treatment plan, so please tell us what you take.
Insufficient bone does not automatically rule out implants — bone grafting and other options exist. An accurate diagnosis comes first.
